My driving weekend, Meidera Gathering

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night, there was a mini celebration for me. I passed my driving test that afternoon. My dad was so happy, I think he’s proud of me passing it at my 1st attempt. Maybe my whole family was. I also invited FIL since he’s the major contributor of my course fees. We halved the spending cos he was the one who encouraged me to get the license.

I drove FIL and Hus to the dining place suggested by my dad, without the probational license plate. I drove on the express way for the first time. AYE, Ayer Rajah Express, speed limit 80km/h. Since it’s an expressway, cars were moving really fast and I wasn’t keeping up due to the lack in experience, driving in the night, with 2 drivers on board, better be safe than sorry. Still, I was given the “aggressive” driving lesson on board… (driving centres will only teach defensive driving) a pretty tough one.

Getting use to a vehicle take a bit of time, I just realized that BBDC’s cars has heavier steering wheel. Twisting and turning is much easier with FIL’s Honda Jazz.

I dint enjoy that drive very much, cos I’m sleepy and greatly dispirited by the 2 experienced drivers on board. But I enjoyed the dinner, we had a humongous chilli crab and a gigantic pepper crab. Yummy!

Saturday, I was supposed to be in church for a music recording with some of the YFers. I went late hoping to get some time in the morning to practice driving especially parking, expressways and multi-storey carparks with Hus. But he’s quite lazy since he woke up in the morning… So I went to church myself with a wasted morning.

I enjoyed the recording time thoroughly. Jamming, jamming, and more jamming. The YFers were as usual, very talented! We can play instruments, sing, sing and play together… Mixing and making CDs. We’re good in God’s grace.

After recording, I drove Grace’s van to the Meidera’s gathering. People on board: Grace, Aunt Anna, Janna, Deroy, Jarek, Magdalene, Christine, Connie. Although I was scared, everyone said I was really smooth, especially my clutch control and the general control of the vehicle was comfortable to sit-in. I was flattered, I’m starting to feel that my pass isn’t as “kelong” as I’ve thought.

At Meidera
We’re surrounded by good food yet again. The thing abt Meidera gathering is, you’ll overeat… Definitely, darn good food ok? They can be healthy food but you’ll overeat because it’s very tasty. 2nd uncle never fail to whip the best dish, every family’s culinary skills improved every week.

Tao Rong captivated the Christian ladies with his understanding of the bible and his theologian knowledge. His humility in explanation made truth pleasing to the ears… Well, he’s my brother-in-law. WEET!

Our discussion: there’s one commandment in the 10 commandments that can summarize the other 9, can you guess what that might be? –if you want answer, leave a comment or email me at audreytanst@gmail.com

After a long discussion, we were ready to cut the cake for the july babies. Sunny(age 36), Tao Rong(age 29) and Crystal(age 7). Totally fudgy chocolate cake… not too sweet and slightly bitter. *yum yum*

The night lasted to 11.30pm, when everyone left together after a good session of teasing Chia Yi… we had a good laugh.

Sunday, Hus and I dint make it to AOG 9am service again. Rain and motorbike dun mix very well. Hus drove me to FCCS before he reported to work.

I borrowed FIL’s car after service, but only got it after he got his things done and sent himself home, then I drove it out to pick Jan, Enoch and Jarek up. I took the BKE, bukit timah expressway, smoothly. I wasn’t moving like a snail like Friday night. I’m getting used to roads without the L-plates.

I also did multi-storey carparks with ultra steep slopes too. It’s made easy with the automatic transmission Jazz, dun need clutch control and low speed. Parking was challenging still, but by the 5th parking I did that day, I did it with 2 reverse motions. I was happy with myself, but it’s gonna be a long break till the next drive.

I hope to be able to bring more children or youths to church with this license. I hope this brings more convenience to people. Let this not make me a lazier person but a useful one. For I know it’s God who granted my pass…
