dinner with the 茶couple

We had visitors from Northern Thailand… They are the Cha couple, 茶大爹 和 茶大妈。They are probably the sweetest couple I’ve ever seen…

They are the “guardian” of my Brother-in-law, 讨荣, the church sort of assign them to help讨荣 run his ministry in Thailand, 讨荣 stays at their house, they cook 3 meals for him in Hui Ju. They are like family to him and they really treat him like their son.

大爹 used fight in wars, the Chinese Revolution & other domestic warfare. 10 yrs he fought against communism in china and moved towards the south when finally he got to Myanmar, he had to fight for another 3 yrs because the govt was not going to accommodate them. So they moved further into Thailand when the Thai govt promised to give them a place in the hills to stay if they were to help them fight in their own war which their pple are not winning…

In the 13 yrs… his wife moved and hid together with him… Tough woman right? I always see women during wartimes on TV, the women still wake up on their cosy beds and wear nice pearl white dresses while watching the news for war updates… never did I know of anyone who travelled and hid together with their fighting husbands… Kudos to the women who were at the front line with their husbands…

They were sharing abt their marriage from the traditional “choosing” brides to the fighting and settling down. Both of them gave explicit accounts of the relationship… That was so so nice… Firstly, rarely you hear adults sharing their love stories unless one has left. Secondly, they spoke like those incidents happened like a while ago, but it’s actually more than 40 yrs ago… They remembered that they’re married for 46 yrs. They talked abt their marriage like couples in honeymoon periods. They smiled and gestured at each other in a way that nobody understood, they have their own love signals. It’s apparent that they like to have the other around when the other’s absence make one quieter…

大爹said something that warms my heart (in mandarin), “one day when I could go back home after a war, I wanted to see her very much. I used a day to walk the 2-day distance thru a major flood… I even had to carry my gun on the head so that I can keep it dry.” I used to think men will not remember the little sweet stuff in the relationships, now I think maybe they do but they’ll never say it to pple… May I encourage, GUYS, say it!!! It encourages ladies to be good and respectful wives, and it makes us happy… *weet*

大妈 not a simple lady, if you think simplicity is what makes a marriage works… She’s a linguist. She’s an Akka (a minor tribe), she speaks it, and lahu (anther minor tribe dialect), speaks mandarin very well and thai. She’s aware of things around her, very likable lady…

They are so Christians… 99.9% or 100% of the time, they are Christians… like I’m more like 70% of the time Christian… cos I do some things that are wrong and always forget to give thanks in every circumstances. Love the things that I shouldn’t… sigh…

Their marriage is one that讨荣 describe, it has transcend love… It more than love… It can only be attained if you’re Christian, and ready to learn and suffer long for each other… Well, at least hus and I got 1 thing right… hahaha… Let’s do it TOGETHER… for his SAF’s mannerism “WITH OUR LIVES!!!”*roar*
